Julia Rajagopalan on “The Cat’s Paw”

As a kid, I was fascinated by Ancient Egypt, especially the mummies. When I first learned that Egyptians mummified their cats, it made perfect sense to me. I mean, what’s the point of an afterlife without your pets?

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some incredible places around the globe, and along the way, I’ve collected some fascinating artifacts. However, I’m a proud purchaser of reproductions, knockoffs, and souvenirs because I believe that relics and antiquities belong in their countries of origin. Every country deserves to own its own cultural heritage, and honestly, I don't want to accidentally bring home an ancient mummy curse.
