Juliet Cook

Unnameable

The visage of a rotting baby bear doll is open.
I don’t name it Teddy. I call it limbless
luminary. Place one arm under my pillow,
its screwed up body and head under my bed.
The eye that dangles is my favorite one.
The other eye glares at me as if
I am the one who tore it out.

Brain Replacement Surgery

From deprivation
to brain contagion. Blurry
mental deficit

turns into oblong
panic button hard to reach.
Can’t tend to your own

contortionism.
Rotisserie chicken head
replaced your cooked brain.
