Illustrations by Chris O’Neal

Behold CDSOB’s new metal logos, courtesy of artist Chris O’Neal. We reached out to him on the recommendation of a friend of the publication (thanks, Adam!), after banging our heads to what we saw at chrisoneal.com. Chris is awesome to work with. We sent him a bunch of our favorite metal logos and described the types of lettering we like, and he sent us a tantalizing set of sketches. As we honed in on our favorites, Chris walked us through the stages of his art practice, sending works in progress so we could see how each logo flowered, went to seed, and gloriously decayed. We’re using the full name logo as the lead image on our Etc. section page—look for us to develop that section in the coming cycle. We plan to use the acronym logo to tag particular posts that will be archived in Etc. We love these designs and can’t stop looking at them. Here’s hoping our readers enjoy them as much as we do. We also present a selected gallery of Chris’ other illustration work. Thanks again for making us look good, Chris!🤘🏼
