Jodi Bosin on Her Poems
“concentrate”: I have been haunted by this schoolyard song and all the other curséd things that kids do (adults of course are no better, merely evil on a larger scale). And yet there is something nice about it too, the sense of mystery, of passing something down, of an oral tradition we have all but lost in this culture.
“elysia marginata” was inspired by having my heart broken and the shocking video that begins this NY Times article. The joke of trying to make it into some cute sort of metaphor. You can also find this poem in my depressing breakup zine You and Me and Every Void We Know.
